Day 68: Facebook while working?

21 oct, wed

Kinda cool that HP in denmark actually employed this dude, Mikael Lemberg, to decide if HP should allow facebooking at work. HP in Denmark is like damn lax. You can choose to work from home, choose your working hours, as long as you meet your targets. It’s damn cool and relaxing. Don’t you want your boss to be this kind?

Day 67: Coke + ginger

20 oct, tues

Mami got me to try cooking this ginger coke drink to remove like the “cold wind/han” from my body. It’s damn cool. Added a few slices of ginger to a cup of coke, boiled it. Woohoo, the drink is damn cool. I hate ginger but the coke musked the taste very well (:

Realised the interesting phenomenon… Western students are really expressive. They just like speak out their minds, whatever they are thinking about. Relevant or not relevant to the question, they still spit it out. But Singaporean students are straight to the point. Rigourously trained to “ANSWER THE QUESTION” aka “ATQ” (yes, you see it very often in history and SS or even Chem papers),  we only speak points that are relevant to the requirements. Anything else, we leave to offline or jokes or random comments, which it is made known that it is random and has probably little contribution to the actual work. Not saying that any one of this is better. Just different styles. and how much you can tolerate the other (:

Day 65: Struggle to Tivoli

18 oct

i struggled to decide whether to go to Tivoli. It’s an amusement park in Denmark. Bit more than just an amusement park. There are other things to look see do there other than playing the rides. It’s one of the earliest tourism attractions in Europe actually.

Tivoli opened on week 42 for the Halloween. With Halloween decorations and stuff. Had trouble deciding whether to go or not. Cos one i was supposed to be injured and i felt damn lazy to go out. need to change and stuff. On the other hand, i already have the unlimited pass for the year and it’s quite a waste not to go catch the special decorations that I’ve never seen before. Oh well, i was damn happy when I packed to leave home haha. But man, i didnt put in the memory card for my cam, so i only have the pictures in the internal memory. can only transfer them when i get home.

Bumped in to the SMU girls. then later Shannon and Edward. Was a worthwhile trip (:

Day 64: Calling Nina Lee

called this woman, nina lee that night. after i realised i forgot all about my good friend’s 21 -.- i slept the entire 16th away after i came back from the doctor’s… felt quite guilt that i forgot wx’s bday. zz man. but anw, it was fun talking to nina lee after a while. haha havent heard her voice for like months. dont think her voice changed since like in rv. tho we dont chat often on the phone, sometimes when we do, takes quite a while (:

Day 63: “Temperature?”

16 oct, Fri

had this interesting hunt for my doctor. (in denmark, we have an assigned GP, cos consultation fees is covered by the govt). i couldnt understand her voicemail in danish. had to call the kommune/municipality for help. called up her colleague for an appointment cos she was on holiday. was labelled as an acute case so that i could meet the other doctor despite having all her slots taken up that day. and i had to be there before 12pm, when they close. cos she was going on holiday too… haha doctors are so shiok here.

i complained about my sore throat. “temperature?” hmm i was like i dont know my temperature, didnt take. “oh you mean you can’t take my temperature here?” doc: “no, we dont. you have to take it yourself at home before you come”. i was like okay hmm…

and they did a test for bacteria infection in my throat. the result was negative. nurse: “the result is negative. so it is a viral infection. you have to get some lozenges from the pharmacy” ha, this is damn interesting. have to gao dim your own sore throats. the pharmacy was easily 200m away from the clinic. quite sad. had to walk with a gg knee. in the rain. getting frozen by the cold air.

lugging groceries home was sad too. oh well, but i stocked up enough to eat for the week. all the goodness of plain vegetables. carrots, broccoli and potatoes. up for a good detox, nutritious week.

Day 62: It’s snowing!

15 oct, thursday

it was freaking snowing that morning in vienna. i was like what the hell? why is there snowww?? it looked like a light shower. but what fell was seriously ice.

after the rest left for budapest and were juts 10mins away from being late for the train, i hopped on the bus to the airport. felt shiok holding the business class ticket. explored the business lounge in the airport. it was damn freaking cool. i was damn amazed that the stuff inside were freeeeeeeeee. i even went to ask the staff if the things were free. haha.

the biz seats a disappointing tho. they use 3 econ seats to make 2 biz seats. but the meal was cool. and i loved the window seat (:

Day 61: Laundary

14 oct

spent my day in the wombat hostel in vienna. knee was shit pain that morning when i woke up in them morning on the train. it wasnt that unfruitful a day. did my laundry in the hostel (: miss drying clothes using the heater in my room. decided to fly back to cph instead of facing all the stress and crappy feeling in the next part of the trip.

Day 60: A day in the train station

manycolours Comments Off

13 oct

spent a day at the prague train station cos of my gged leg. knew i shouldnt be walking anymore. i used the toilet at the station. had to pay 10 CZK (~80cent SGD) for the entrance. i thought i might as well take my time in there, can treat my knee with counter pain slowly. guess what? i got chased out of the toilet! some male cleaner opened my cubicle with a coin and chased me out of the toilet! haha imba. lucky i was dressed and just nursing my knee. one of the most ridiculous thing that i’ve encountered.

saw a group of kids gathering in BK, and fooling around, without buying any food. reminds me of what students do in singapore. we leech on fast food seats to chit chat, for meetings… actually, it seems like kids are the same everywhere…

tried this potato chicken pancake, Bramborák. should be a speciality of czech. gonna find the recipe and try experimenting ((:

actually the whole day i was weeping quite a bit. felt really lost. not sure about that to do with my leg. especially when papa called. had the strong urge to just run home and run away from all the tough times. it feels shit awful when you deal with shit away from home.

Day 59: My greatest regret

manycolours Comments Off

12 oct, Monday

Prague was really pretty as my Czech friend told me. The unique part, i feel is that the top of the buildings. Those sharp dorms but they are design with this special prague style.

we went on a free tour with new europe. the guide was awesome (: really entertaining. was a v enjoyable tour. those going around europe should consider joining their tours.

before evening, my knee gged. had this sharp pain in my knee cap while walking. at the end of the day, i realised i just had my greatest regret in this trip. to go on this trip despite knowing that i can’t make it. i knew i dont have that kind of stamina and strength to go on a 17 day budget trip. especially in the cold. yet, for the sake of doing that i seem to want and think i should – to travel to as many countries as i can while i’m in europe, i went ahead. one of the silliest decision i’ve made. in all the eagerness… and lack of opinion from my family and closer friends, i made the most clouded judgement ever in recent years. it’s really hard to make decisions when you are away from your usual environment. makes you feel so strange doing what you usually do…
